Disqualified, Then Crowned President of Three Different Bodies in One Year: The Campus Story That’ll Make You Rethink Rejection 🇳🇬

Life has a funny way of teaching lessons. Sometimes, those lessons come through pain, disappointment, and moments that make you question yourself. But if you stay patient and keep working, those same moments can later become the reason people respect you. This is my story. ✨

Gratitude First 🙏

My name is Sinjae Victory, and before anything else, I want to say thank you.

I deeply appreciate my parents for their constant support, prayers, and belief in me, even when things did not make sense. I also want to appreciate Olumide, Ogundare Temiloluwa, Christ Gospel Mission, and Crawford University for giving me the platform to grow, learn, and practice leadership in real ways.

None of this journey would be complete without acknowledging God, who has been the center of everything. ✨

The Disqualification That Changed Everything 💔

In 2024, I contested for the post of Vice President of the Nigeria Association of Microbiology Students (NAMBS). I was confident. I believed I had prepared enough. I believed I deserved the opportunity.

But I was disqualified.

That moment hurt me deeply. I was upset. It weighed me down emotionally. I felt misunderstood and disappointed. I remember reaching out to the president at that time, explaining my situation. I also wrote a formal letter to the staff adviser committee, pleading my case and asking for reconsideration.

In the end, nothing changed. I was still disqualified.

That moment could have broken me, but instead, it became my training ground. 🔁

Turning Pain into Growth 💪

The anger I felt did not destroy me. It motivated me.

Rather than walking away or becoming bitter, I decided to stay involved and keep building myself. I took up the role of Assistant General Secretary. It was not the position I originally wanted, but it was the position I needed.

I showed up. I worked consistently. I learned how leadership truly works.

I did not shout. I did not force relevance. I allowed my work to speak for me. 🔊

One Year Later: A New Chapter 🎉

Exactly one year later, in 2025, something amazing happened.

I became the President of three different bodies.

This did not happen by luck. It happened because people had watched my consistency. They had seen my competence. They trusted my ability to lead, solve problems, and work with people.

What once looked like rejection became preparation. 🛠️

God at the Center ✝️

Through this journey, one thing remained constant: God.

He gave me strength when I felt weak. He gave me wisdom when I was confused. He positioned me where my work could be seen, even when I was silent.

Leadership Is Work, Not Title 🔧

Under my leadership so far, we have successfully organized:

• A seminar

• A congress

• A webinar

• Several official meetings

• Continuous engagement between students and staff

Being a president is not just about holding a title. It is about being a bridge between people. It is about listening, communicating, and taking responsibility. 🤝

Leadership and Personal Growth Can Coexist 🌱

One important thing I learned is that leadership should not stop you from growing personally.

During this period, I:

• Achieved my best academic results

• Resolved conflicts and issues

• Built meaningful personal relationships

• Created strong professional connections

• Leadership did not reduce me. It refined me.

The biggest lesson from this journey is:

Let your work speak for you.

You do not need to over-explain yourself.

You do not need to fight for validation. Consistent good work will always speak louder than words.

What people once doubted, they later trusted.

My Final Words 📝

If you are reading this and you are currently facing rejection, disappointment, or delay, do not give up. Sometimes, what feels like a setback is just preparation in disguise.

Stay humble, stay consistent, and let your work speak.

Definitely, your time will come.
